The Benefits of Cold Cream

Cold Cream

I was in the drugstore looking for something that would deep clean, lighten my acne scars and hydrate my skin all in one step. I don’t have to tell you of the numerous expensive skin care systems that promise to do all this in several expensive steps. After a while of comparing labels for benefits and prices, I have decided to go back to the basics: cold cream.

Created in ancient Greece by a physician named Galen, cold cream is a cleanser used to deep clean the pores while moisturizing the skin. At about $7.00 and a success history of about 2000 years, I forked over the cash and took my new experiment home. That night I gave myself a facial and cleansed the old way the following morning with Neutrogena’s Visibly Even foaming facial cleanser and Witch Hazel for my toner. The evening would be the best time to begin testing; whatever makeup I have on my skin would be well settled.

I was happy that I didn’t have to wait for the water’s temperature to be just right because water isn’t necessary. As soon as the cream touched my skin I could feel it working- not a tingle or irritation, just a deep clean feeling. My skin was so soft and smooth! Before using this miracle, exfoliation would only be evident for a day or two and then it was back to dull and tired. My skin looks bright for days and I notice a lightening of my scars. I use cold cream at night so that the moisturizers have more time to absorb. I have also stopped using liquid-based foundation and have gone back to Bare Minerals in Golden Deep.  My makeup lasts longer and stays vibrant without getting shinny or chafing. I am declaring cold cream a keeper.

Easy to use:

  1. Apply a liberal amount to the face and neck with the finger tips, massaging into the skin
  2. Remove with facial tissue.
  3. Ooohh and Aaaah at your reflection for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Moisturize! Foundations and moisturizers that have SPF work wonders, too!
Love,
Shakinah
