Makeup Academy Week #6 by Trisha S.

Week 6 of Makeup Academy was All About Lips!!

This week was fun and little tough too!! Lips are a very important part of the face and this class was almost as intense as the eye class! As always, we began with the purpose of lip color, which is to enhance or correct the shape or color of the lip.

In order to know what kind of lips you have you need to know the part of the lip. The dip in the middle of your upper lip is called the bow. The highest point on each side is called the peak.

There are three common lip shapes:

1/3 Lip: This is the standard lip shape and considered the most attractive. From the bow to the peak takes up 1/3 of the lip and from the peak to the corner is 2/3.

1/2 Lip: This lip shape is considered glamorous and attractive. From the bow to the peak takes up ½ of the upper lip and from the peak to the corner is the other ½

2/3 Lip: This lip shape is most commonly used on singers and theatrical performers. From the bow to the peak takes up 2/3 of the lip and from the peak to the corner takes up 1/3 of the lip.

To help your lipstick stay on you longer, apply foundation to the lips first. Line your lips with lip liner and then fill in your lips with that same liner pencil. Apply your lipstick next, and then use a burhs to press some translucent powder onto your lips to set the cream. Apply some gloss if desired, and you're done!!

There are many corrective techniques to make the lip appear smaller or larger, depending on the look you are going for. For more information on these techniques, schedule a makeup consultation with us! You can e-mail me at trisha.reanmation@gmail.com to ask any questions too :)

We have a very exciting weekend ahead of us, in more ways than one, so be sure to visit us often to keep up! Until next week...

Love,

Trisha
